Baby Bump: Week to Week

My Second Baby Bump: 37 Weeks Pregnant

I am 37 weeks pregnant, and the holidays are in full effect! Time is flying by so quickly, it feels as though there is hardly any time in between each prenatal visit. I am not sure how many more weeks I’ll be posting, but something tells me this is going to be a 2018 baby!

At 37 Weeks Pregnant…

How big is baby? 37 weeks pregnant, baby is the size of a winter melon (22 inches, 6.5 lbs)

Weight gain: At my appointment this week, I had gained about two pounds. My weight seems to be staying really stable at this point.

Symptoms: In addition to being tired, and sore…the contractions have started. I have been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions for the past few months but these contractions are definitely different. But they are pretty sporadic, and come and go really inconsistently. So this could just mean I’ll be dealing with prodromal labor for the time being.

Appointments: We had another great appointment this week, although my OB was out at a delivery. The baby received 10/10 after the NST and ultrasounds, and everything looks great.

What I’m loving about pregnancy: This is a tough one. To be honest, I am at the most uncomfortable point in this pregnancy. I am tired. I am less mobile. I am really large. While I will miss pregnancy as a whole, I am ready for baby to join us.

What I’m missing most during pregnancy: Sleep. Eggnog. Sleep. Being able to bend down and pick things up, paint my toes, etc. But I keep telling myself I only have a few weeks left.

Cravings and Aversions: I am really not having any cravings, which makes eating healthier so much easier. Yogurt, bagels, soup and toast are the staples of my diet right now, and I am perfectly happy with that because those things are easy to prepare.

I am looking forward to:  I am looking forward to our final weeks preparing for Christmas, watching holiday movies, and getting into the holiday spirit. Brooks is getting more and more excited, and it is so fun to watch! And, of course, I am looking forward to meeting our little boy. 

Staying fit: No gym for me, but I have been staying active, which may account for the uptake in contractions! I am trying to keep it up, so that little man can make his way down.

Our family:  The holidays are near, so we have been working on preparations: making cookies, buying and wrapping gifts, and trying to get into the holiday spirit. This year that seems a bit more challenging. And, in the meantime, we are patiently waiting for the little one to arrive.

Currently reading: I am currently going back and just reviewing some sections of Mindful Birthing, paying close attention to those strategies that will help me manage labor sensations. At the same time, I am working to manage my stress and anxiety around mastering these strategies, instead just making mental note of what the strategies are, and how I might use them.
