My Second Baby Bump: 36 Weeks Pregnant

36 Weeks Pregnant. How did we hit the 9 month mark already? I am not sure why but, over the last few weeks I have come to hit a wall. While, for the most part, this pregnancy has been fairly easy but, over the past few days I have hit my limit. Little man can stay put as long as he needs, but I will be so excited when he makes his arrival.

At 36 Weeks Pregnant…

How big is baby? 36 weeks pregnant, baby is the size of a papaya (22 inches, 6 lbs)

Weight gain: I was really surprised to see that I had actually lost about six pounds in the last week. My husband and I have been focused on eating well this week, and the lack of swelling and fluid retention are proof that it was the best choice for us both. 

Symptoms: Y’all, I am so tired. Like I am more tired than I have ever been in my entire life. By body does not like carrying all of this weight, and sleeping has been so uncomfortable. Add that to the a toddler who has been resistant to sleeping, and I am like the walking dead. 

Appointments: Our weekly appointment went really well this week. Our ultrasound technician was incredibly sweet, and she worked hard to get us a picture of our sweet boy’s face. It took a while to capture his practice breathing, but eventually they found what they needed. It also took a while to find his heartbeat on the NST monitor, but eventually they found that as well. The OB said he was quite the happy baby. 

I love that you can see his eyelashes here, and his perfect little fingers. 

The little one is officially head down, and he is measuring right at the 50th percentile. My doctor had a chat with me today about some concerns about my age, and impending due date. She explained that, because of my age, they really recommend delivery between 39 and 40 weeks, but not after. She explained that this is due to the increased risk for stillbirth as the pregnancy progresses. Not really what I wanted, or expected to hear. 

So, starting next week, I am going to be actively working to induce labor naturally, because I am desperate to avoid hospital induction. 

What I’m loving about pregnancy: I am still loving my big belly, and having my one on one time with this sweet little boy. His movements are still wild, but it is so fun to experience. That is one thing I will miss!

What I’m missing most during pregnancy: Just sleep, really. And maybe a beer now and then! And I can’t forget climbing the stairs without being so short of breath!

Cravings and Aversions: I am to the point where my stomach is so smooshed that I don’t have any cravings. All of my meals have been tiny, and consist of greek yogurt, bagels and cream cheese, cereal, and the occasional salad. 

I am looking forward to:  I am looking forward to our finals weeks preparing for Christmas, watching holiday movies, and getting into the holiday spirit. Brooks is getting more and more excited, and it is so fun to watch! And, of course, I am looking forward to meeting our little boy. 

Staying fit: No gym for me this week, again. But I have been active every day! 

Our family:  Right now we have just been enjoying some peace and quiet. We are all prepared for baby. The hospital 

Currently reading: I am working through my Mindful Birthing book. I have to say that, while there were some questionable reviews in response to this book, it is FULL of amazing strategies to help you get through labor without pain medications. I can honestly say that I am so excited to give the strategies a try. And, I am having far less anxiety about labor.
