24 weeks pregnant. That is 6 months pregnant. How can this be? I am just shocked at how quickly time is passing this time around. I know that life is busier (and boy is it busy), but it felt like I just hit the 20 week mark.
At 24 weeks pregnant…
How big is baby? 24 weeks pregnant, baby is the size of a cantaloupe (and boy does it feel like it).
Weight gain: At my official weigh in this morning, I found that I have gained more than I would have liked, at about 18 pounds total. They are actually going to test my thyroid when I go in for my second glucose test, to make sure everything is okay.
Symptoms: This week, the back pain and rib pain have been unbearable at times. And nothing seems to help. It is just a constant ache and burning sensation. My guess is that my body is having a hard time accommodating my rapid expansion!
Appointments: We had our 24 week appointment today. My OB is away for a few weeks, so I saw the Nurse Practitioner instead. I definitely prefer my OB. This appointment was very short, and rushed. The baby’s heart rate is great, I feel fine, and that was it. Pretty anticlimactic.
What I’m loving about pregnancy: I love being able to feel the little one move around. He has gotten to be so active. The other morning, before I got out of bed, he kicked so hard, I saw the comforter move. He is big, and he is strong! I cannot wait to meet him. I am so curious: what will he look like? How will his personality be?
What I’m missing most during pregnancy: I miss sleep. I miss feeling somewhat comfortable in my clothes. And I really could use a glass of wine, and a second Pumpkin Spice latte.
Cravings and Aversions: This week, I haven’t really had any cravings or aversions. I have just been really hungry and, as soon as I eat, my stomach feels really uncomfortable. Not so fun right now!
I am looking forward to: My husband is currently out of town, so I am counting the minutes until he gets home. I am also looking forward to taking Brooks to the Butterfly Pavilion this weekend, to check out some bugs, as well as his upcoming birthday. He is about to be 3!
Staying fit: I worked out twice this week. And then, life happened. Between appointments and library time this week, my workout goals just didn’t happen. Next week, however, will be much calmer, and I am looking forward to staying more active!
Our family: As I noted, my husband is out of town, and boy do I miss him! But I am working to keep us busy, until he gets home!
Currently reading: I am done reading birth books for now. I feel like I’ve had my fill. I will probably go back and reread Natural Hospital Birth at the beginning of December, just to refresh my memory. Otherwise, no real reading for me this week (I have just been too tired).
24 Weeks Pregnant, then and now…
