We made it to the halfway point: 20 weeks pregnant! That means we have 20 weeks (give or take a few) to prepare for another little one in our home. I feel like we have so much to do, but I can’t seem to put my finger on what actually needs to happen!
At 20 Weeks Pregnant…
How big is baby? 20 weeks pregnant, baby is the size of a banana.
Sex/gender: of the baby? It is a boy!
Weight gain: I had my official weigh in today. Since the beginning of my pregnancy, I still have only gained 10 lbs. I am thrilled, and relieved, as my weight gain was a bit too quick in the beginning.
Symptoms: Just more of the same. I am tired. So tired. And my back, hips and ribs continue to be so sore.
Appointments: This morning we had our anatomy scan. It was so fun to see the little one. He is a wiggle worm, and he is pretty big, measuring in the 75th percentile. He has all of his fingers and toes, and the Dr. said everything looks really great. Now that I can really feel him moving, and have been able to see this little human in my belly, it is beginning to feel more real!
Maternity clothes: Nothing new!
What I’m loving about pregnancy: This time around is definitely different, but I am feeling so much better during this pregnancy. I feel like my body is handling it better. And every day, Brooks tell me, “Oooh your belly is so big. It is so wiggly.” My tummy is much bigger this time, but I’m embracing it.
What I’m missing most during pregnancy: Caffeine. And this week I am missing having a beer with my husband. But only five months to go!
Cravings and Aversions: I am not really having any cravings this week. And no real aversions. In the coming week, I do need to try and make myself eat more protein, especially eggs, as my doctor suggested that choline can be really beneficial for the baby. I’ll try…
I am looking forward to: Our little one’s big birthday. It is only about a month away. It is so hard to believe that my baby is going to be three years old. But he is definitely on his way to being three. He is so smart, and funny, and fun…and full of energy!
Staying fit: I did not do well this week. I did not sleep much and, as a result, I only hit the gym twice. I am aiming to do better next week, for sure. My goal is to get to the gym at least four times.
Our family: We have been facing some sleep challenges with Brooks this week, so we have been really tired, but we are exploring some new routines and practices to see what will work better for him!
Currently reading: I finished Natural Hospital Birth. I plan to read it again once I get closer to “go-time.” Now I will be digging into Ina May Gaskin’s book. I am going to order a book on Hypnobirthing this week, as well. No, I’m not crazy. I am just exploring all of my options to effectively avoid interventions and medications during birth!
