My Baby Bump Week to Week: 37 Weeks

This week feels like it has been such a whirlwind! Now that we are down to the final weeks before we welcome our little man, there is so much to do.  I have to admit, it can feel rather overwhelming. But day by day, we are checking things off of our list. Only a few more weeks until I no longer have this baby bump, and we welcome our handsome little man into this world.

How far along: 37 Weeks

How big is baby: Baby is the size of a winter melon.

Gender: Its a boy!

Weight gain: My total weight gain seems to be around 35 pounds, as of today!

Maternity clothes: No more new clothes for me at this point. Even though my maternity shirts no longer cover my belly, I am going to simply wear what I have!

Sleep: Sleep is consistent…consistently bad. Everything hurts. My feet. My ankles. My back. My hands.  It makes it very difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position! I spend my nights tossing and turning.

Best moment this week: There were so many great moments this week. We finally painted the nursery (and by we, I mean my wonderful husband).  All of our final baby gear was delivered, including a changing table/dresser and crib (nursery pictures coming soon). Things are finally coming together, and this is definitely helping to calm some of my anxiety!

Miss anything: I miss: sleep, my ankles, feet that don’t ache, shirts that cover my belly, beer, margaritas, being able to move freely…you get the picture.

Movement: I keep reading about how baby’s movements really slow toward the end. Not for this little guy. I am pretty sure he spends his time trying to stand up, in my tummy. His feet now reach, and frequently kick, my ribs. He is just an active little guy.

Cravings: My cravings are really the same. I have been wanting ice cream more frequently, and am still craving iced tea!

Symptoms: On Saturday, we took a trip to Denver to wander Ikea, in search of curtains. We walked through Ikea fairly quickly and, once we got to the end of the lower level, I started to have a rather intense contraction in my back that slowly moved to my lower abdomen. This lasted a good twenty minutes. I have officially started to experience contractions.

Looking forward to: I can finally say, I am looking forward to meeting our little man, and finishing up this pregnancy. I am also excited to finish putting the nursery together, and putting all of our baby items into their proper places.
