9 Months! In January, I remember thinking that September would never come. But here were are, at 36 weeks. Now, we can count the days until baby arrives in days instead of months! Of course I am not expecting the little man to come on his due date. I am guessing he will be stubborn and stay put for an extra week. It all comes with such a crazy mix of emotions. I am excited, scared, overwhelmed… but most of all I am ready to meet our little guy
How far along: 36 Weeks
How big is baby: Baby is the size of a honeydew.
Gender: Its a boy!
Weight gain: I haven’t gained any additional weight this week, and am maintaining a steady 33 pound weight gain.
Maternity clothes: No new clothes, really. I don’t think there is any point, since we only have about a month left. But I am still awaiting the delivery of the dress I ordered for my baby shower, more than two weeks ago.
Sleep: In addition to hip pain, I am beginning to have some sharp back pains in the middle of the night. I am pretty sure that I spend most of the time tossing and turning. My poor, poor husband.
Best moment this week: This week has been great! We ordered the items for our nursery which will arrive in a few days. We pre-registered at the hospital so, when I go into labor, we can simply go into the hospital and be seen, without all of the paperwork. And a follow up appointment with the nutritionist found that I am controlling my gestational diabetes with food. This means that I don’t have to test my blood sugar three times a day!
Miss anything: This week I am still missing my normal sized feet and ankles!
Movement: The little guy is still moving a ton! And he still enjoys being most active in the evening, when he enjoys sticking his feet, hands and possibly elbows right into my bellybutton. He has also been responding to daddy’s voice, which is amazing to watch.
Cravings: I am still just craving iced tea. Most of my other cravings are disappearing, especially in the evenings.
Symptoms: This week’s new symptoms are short, sharp pains in my abdomen and a really achy lower back. The doctor explained that this is simply my body preparing itself for labor! Yikes! And, while its not a symptom, my baby bump has definitely dropped!
Looking forward to: I am looking forward to our completed nursery, and being able to put all of baby’s stuff away in its proper place! We are really looking forward to meeting our handsome little guy, but we are more than happy to be patient and let him continue to keep cooking until he is done!
