How does the baby go from pineapple sized, to squash sized? It just doesn’t add up. But, I digress. We have officially reached 32 weeks! Only two months to go and this baby bump doesn’t seem to be getting much bigger, but baby certainly does.
How far along: 32 Weeks
How big is baby: Baby is the size of a squash
Gender: Its a boy!
Weight gain: At our most recent appointment, I discovered that I have gained a total of 24 pounds, which means that I actually lost a pound. I think this is the result of really watching what I eat.
Maternity clothes: Nothing new to report here!
Sleep: Sleep comes and goes. I am having some pretty severe hip pains at night, which causes me to toss and turn a lot. My goal this week is to work in a nap here and there, to try and make up for the lost sleep.
Best moment this week: There were so many great moments this week. We had our first childbirth class last night. I am really glad we decided to enroll because, frankly, I have no idea what to expect in terms of labor and childbirth. In one night, we have already learned so much. This week’s doctor appointment confirmed that our little guy is right on track in terms of growth. And he really enjoyed kicking the doctor and her doppler machine. We also put the baby’s bassinet together. I can’t help but smile every time I see it.
Miss anything: I miss wearing my wedding ring (my fingers are just too swollen). And I miss my ankles. And on the hottest days, I miss an ice cold beer!
Movement: Our little guy continues to move all day, every day. At night, my husband is able to feel his crazy movements too, by simply resting his hand on my belly. He witnesses the baby dance party on a regular basis. And did I mention hiccups? He seems to have hiccups so often lately!
Cravings: I am still craving carbs, sweets, and iced tea. For the first time in my life, I am enjoying water and can’t seem to get enough!
Symptoms: My ankles, feet and hands continue to swell. Especially if I have done anything strenuous. I have also had some headaches, and serious fatigue.
Looking forward to: We are looking forward to our next childbirth class, complete with a birth center tour. We will continue to get things ready for our little man, and begin putting the nursery together. And, each day is a day closer to meeting him. We are both so darn excited.
