My Baby Bump Week to Week: 22 Weeks

Its that time again. Time for my weekly check in as I document my baby bump week to week. Now that we have passed the halfway mark, the weeks are just flying by.  And, as time passes quickly, I am noticing fewer changes. I will say, however, that I love being pregnant. I know that I have said it before, but this is such an incredible experience.

How far along: 22 Weeks

How big is baby: Baby is the size of a papaya.

Gender: Its a boy!

Weight gain: When I last checked, I had gained fifteen pounds. This is right on track with what my doctor suggested.  Never did I think posting a fifteen pound weight gain on the internet would be a good thing!

Maternity clothes: I am still enjoying the maternity clothes I have. I especially love the maxi dresses, since they are so incredibly comfortable, while looking somewhat “put together.” I think I need a few more.

Sleep: I have discovered a new pattern in my sleeping.  I will have one good night of sleep, followed by a night when I get no sleep. And repeat.

Best moment this week: My favorite moments continue to be feeling this little man move around. He is becoming more active during the day, but he does his biggest acrobatic moves at night. Perhaps he enjoys our nightly Family Guy episodes. I also enjoyed a nice, long Memorial Day weekend with my husband. It was so nice to have some downtime, together.

Miss anything: We live in Colorado. It has been raining incessantly for about a month now. I miss the sunshine. And I miss warm weather. I would love to have a morning where it is warm enough for a long walk. All the same, I am grateful for the absence of forest fires.

Movement: Our little man is moving constantly. His kicks are getting stronger, and I noticed that he is moving around my belly more, so I will feel kicks and punches all over. This week, I had a few days when I wasn’t feeling so well. On those days, he seems to move less.

Cravings: I am craving bagels and cream cheese, caramel ribbon crunch frappuccinos, and limeade mixed with club soda. Nothing unreasonable!

Symptoms: I have begun to have some really strange digestion issues. No, don’t worry. I will spare you the gory details. I had a few days this week when I was experiencing some pain in the area right below my ribs, followed by stomach cramps. Consulting with my mom, and Dr. Google, it seems as though this could be gallbladder related. When I eat very clean, I don’t seem to have the same problems.

Looking forward to: I am still simply looking forward to each new day, feeling the little guy move around!

Ovia Baby Hand SizeFun finds: Okay, so this is a new category. I thought it might be fun to discuss any new pregnancy finds. This week, I discovered an app called Ovia. Now, I have already been using a few pregnancy apps like The Bump and What To Expect. These are fun for the forums, and for the weekly updates about baby. Ovia, however, has a few unique features. My favorite is the size of baby’s hand, compared to baby’s hand at nine months. I also like the different size comparisons. While The Bump says that the baby is the size of a papaya this week, Ovia relates it to corn on the cob. Silly but fun.
