My Baby Bump Week to Week: 17 Weeks

The weeks are going so quickly now. It is hard to believe that I am already 17 weeks pregnant. It feels like just yesterday that we were at six weeks, and I was in a constant state of worry and impatience.  Now, this whole pregnancy thing is really growing on me (literally and figuratively of course!

How far along: 17 Weeks

How big is baby: Baby is the size of an onion.

Gender: We are slowly sharing our news with family and friends. Stay tuned.

Weight gain: Still right around ten pounds so far. But after the way I have eaten the last few days, I wouldn’t be surprised if I am closer to fifteen pounds heavier.

Maternity clothes: Still enjoying my small maternity wardrobe. As the weather gets warmer, however, I will be investing in many, many maxi dresses.

Sleep: I finally broke down on Friday and purchased a Snoogle. The Snoogle is a funky shaped pregnancy pillow that provides support for a growing belly. It also fits right between your knees to ease back pain. My first night with the Snoogle was miserable. It was too firm, and I woke up with incredibly sore arms (not sure why my arms were sore). Last night, however, I slept better than I had in weeks. I think I may have figure out how to use the Snoogle, and I know it is going to become more and more useful throughout this pregnancy.

Best moment this week: My husband was the source of my best moment this week. On a whim, he presented us with gift bags. Inside my bag; two movies I have been dying to see and Twizzler Nibs. The best surprise, ever. Even better, he put together a gift bag for our little gummy bear. Inside were two adorable Disney stuffed animals. The baby’s first toys; a Mickey Mouse and a Goofy. I really do have the best, most thoughtful husband on the planet.

Miss anything: This week I don’t feel like I am really missing anything in particular.

Movement: I have felt a few sensations that I think may have been our little gummy bear. The movements aren’t consistent yet, but I can’t wait until they are!

Cravings:  My cravings seem to have calmed down a bit this week. I am not craving anything in particular, but I am still having some pretty strong aversions to the same foods; pizza and chicken.

Symptoms: My symptoms are fairly consistent. My exhaustion seems to be back, full force. I have been ravenously hungry as well. I am having a lot of back pain. I continue to have headaches and belly button pains on occasion, too.

Looking forward to: Of course we are looking forward to our anatomy scan in a few weeks when we will finally get to see our little gummy bear once again!
