Week 16! Officially I have hit the four month mark, and I am starting to feel some of the relief that comes with second trimester. And, as my tummy gets bigger and bigger, I am more and more excited to meet our little gummy bear!
How far along: 16 Weeks
How big is baby: Baby is the size of an avocado.
Gender: Well, we found the baby’s gender today! But, our lips are sealed for now.
Weight gain: Today, I am up about ten pounds. The doctor says I am right on track with weight gain and that, in the next month, I should expect to see more significant gains.
Maternity clothes: Nothing new in this department, except for the realization that I really do need maternity yoga pants. My pre-baby gym clothes are beyond uncomfortable now!
Sleep: Sleep? What is sleep? I now spend my nights tossing and turning, trying to get comfortable, or trying to wake myself from bizarre dreams. I think that a Snoogle is in my future.
Best moment this week: The best moment this week was our 16 week appointment, where we heard the baby’s strong heartbeat (166), and heard it bouncing around yet again! Even better, we were able to find out the baby’s gender, which we were not expecting for another month! Now I can actually start purchasing baby stuff. I also checked out a prenatal yoga class, and I am in love. Stay tuned for a blog about that later this week.
Miss anything: I am really just missing sleep, and goat cheese. Strange combination, I know.
Movement: I am still waiting to feel the little one move. The doctor said that I will begin to feel movement in the next few weeks. I cannot wait! Listening to the little gummy bear yesterday, I have a feeling I will be feeling A LOT of movement.
Cravings: This week I am having very strong cravings for fruits and veggies. I NEED a tomato. Like, right now. And an avocado. And some raspberries.
Symptoms: This week I continue to have sharp pains in my belly button which we are thinking may be growing pains. Headaches continue to make regular appearances as well.
Looking forward to: We are looking forward to sharing our baby news with friends and family, and I am really looking forward to our twenty week appointment, where we can see baby again!
